Microsoft has been eager to promote Windows 11 ever since it was released last year, citing “good” user feedback. The company declared that Windows 11 was prepared for widespread deployment back in May of this year. The Redmond behemoth has also been urging users of Windows 10 21H1 to upgrade to Windows 11 in the meantime for versions that are close to the end of support. Microsoft even advises Windows 8.1 users to switch to a new PC so they can take advantage of all the benefits of Windows 11.
The business just began releasing the following Windows upgrade to Windows 10 22H2 users as an Out of Box experience (OOBE) update.
The latest OOBE update’s support document (KB5020683) reads as follows:
An out-of-band upgrade for Windows 10, versions 2004, 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, and 22H2 was made available on November 30, 2022. (OOBE). It offers the opportunity for eligible devices to upgrade to Windows 11 as part of the OOBE procedure. Only once an OOBE update has been deployed will this update be accessible.
These updates are applicable to:
- Microsoft Windows 10, 2004 (Home and Professional only)
- Microsoft Windows 10, 20H2 (Home and Professional only)
- Version 21H1 of Windows 10 (Home and Professional only)
- Version 21H2 of Windows 10 (Home and Professional only)
- OS Windows 10, build 22H2 (Home and Professional only)
On some Windows 10 editions, there are a few requirements in order to get this OOBE upgrade. Here are some of them:
Obtaining this update
- Microsoft OOBE
- In the event that an Internet connection is available, this update is installed during the Windows OOBE procedure.
To apply this update, you must already have one of the following updates installed, or a later update:
Version 2004 of Windows 10
- KB4586781 is advised for November 10, 2020. (OS Build 19041.630)
- KB4580364 is optional for October 29, 2020. (OS Build 19041.610)
Version 20H2 of Windows 10
- There is no need for any more upgrades.
Version 21H1 of Windows 10- There is no need for any more upgrades.
Version 21H2 of Windows 10- There is no need for any more upgrades.
Version 22H2 of Windows 10- There is no need for any more upgrades.
