The July 2022 Android Subsystem upgrade for Windows 11 introduces additional functionalities

The Android Subsystem for Windows 11 has undergone a significant overhaul that Microsoft has been testing, and the July 2022 feature update is now going out with a ton of enhancements. This update brings the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) to version 2205.40000.14.0 and introduces a number of platform enhancements.

Advanced networking functionality for Windows 11’s Android Subsystem integration enables apps to access local devices for ARM hardware. Apps can now utilize the capability as a result. Microsoft is also adding support for IPv6 and VPN connectivity, two new features.

All users have access to the subsystem’s new networking features. The Settings app has been improved, which is another new feature. As you are surely aware, WSA has its own unique settings panel, and with today’s release, Microsoft improved the Settings panel.

The complete changelog for the Windows 11 WSA July 2022 update is provided below:

  • Microsoft has turned on the advanced networking features. This gives ARM apps access to local network gadgets.
  • The host/computer IP address has been adjusted to match the VM’s IP address.
  • Microsoft has resolved problems with scaling or maximization.
  • Microsoft has resolved the mouse and trackpad in-app scrolling problems.
  • Microsoft has verified that windows marked secure can no longer be screenshotted as part of privacy upgrades. This includes Chrome’s incognito mode.
  • Microsoft is enhancing the way web browsers launch.
  • Support for Doze and App Standby has been enabled.
  • Chromium WebView 101 update
  • The network, video playback, app flickering, and other problems have all been fixed by Microsoft. Actually, according to Microsoft, the update improves the speed and dependability of connecting to virtual WiFi.
  • Microsoft is enhancing video playback in apps and introducing AV1 Codec support.
  • IPv6 and VPN connectivity enabled
  • Microsoft has resolved problems with video playback, including a flaw that may prevent Windows from turning off the screen.

Even if the July 2022 update addressed a number of problems, Microsoft is still aware of a few bugs, one of which prevents some VPNs from functioning properly with advanced networking. If you use a VPN, you’ll encounter problems, but you can resolve this by turning off Advanced Networking in the settings app.
