Microsoft Acquires Datazen to Add New Mobile BI Capabilities

Microsoft acquired Datazen which is a company that provides a native mobile BI experience.

“Datazen is positioned as a mobile BI solution for customers who need a solution that is implemented on-premises,” the Datazen team writes today. “As such, it will complement Power BI, Microsoft’s cloud-based business analytics service.”

Datazen is an on premise product that provides access out to the internet for mobile browsers and native apps to on premise data sources.

The product will be integrated into the Power BI family of tools.

A key note for SQL Server Enterprise users – As of today, SQL Server Enterprise Edition customers with version 2008 or later and Software Assurance are entitled to download the Datazen Server software at no additional cost.
